Web Designing VS Graphic Designing?

Web design and graphic design looks an irrelevant group, but people still often get confused. Generally, the layman always calls web designers and graphic designers as “art designer”. Their work is misunderstood, by the involvement of art skill and creative ability. Besides, the design  they use almost the same, and they can do the jobs related to web design or graphic design. This actually based on a confusion about the design industry.

First of all we need to know that what is the meaning of web designing and graphic designing.

What is Web Designing?

Design is the process of collecting ideas, and aesthetically arranging and implementing them, guided by certain principles for a specific purpose. Web design is a similar process of creation, with the intention of presenting the content on electronic web pages, which the end-users can access through the internet with the help of a web browser.

  • Elements of Web Design:

Layout:

This is the way the graphics, ads and text are arranged. In the web world, a key goal is to help the view find the information they seek at a glance. This includes maintaining the balance, consistency, and integrity of the design

        Color:

The choice of colors depends on the purpose and clientele; it could be simple black-and-white to multi-colored design, conveying the personality of a person or the brand of an organization, using web-safe colors.

        Graphics:

Graphics can include logos, photos, clip art or icons, all of which enhance the web design. For user friendliness, these need to be placed appropriately, working with the color and content of the web page, while not making it too congested or slow to load.In the use of graphics, the graphic design has more performances than the web design, especially for the product websites.

        Fonts:

Web design needs to consider more comprehensive. It only has a small choose scope, in order to avoid the pressure on the server by the output. Due to the characteristics of HTML, all fonts are based on the default font of user’s operating system.The use of various fonts can enhance a website design. Most web browsers can only read a select number of fonts, known as “web-safe fonts”, so your designer will generally work within this widely accepted group.

        Content:

                      Content and design can work together to enhance the message of the site through visuals and text. Written text should always be relevant and useful, so as not to confuse the reader and to give them what they want so they will remain on the site. Content should be optimized for search engines and be of a suitable length, incorporating relevant keywords.

What is Graphic Designing?

Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem-solving using one or more of typography, photography, and illustration. The field is considered a subset of visual communication and communication design.

Graphic designers create and combine symbols, images, and text to form visual representations of ideas and messages. They use typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to create visual compositions.

Elements Of  Graphic Designing:

Graphics:

Graphic design is no need to take the final effect into account. In terms of the size of the unit used in the design, the graphic design uses the concept of physical sizes, such as inches, centimeters, millimeters, etc.

Line:

Lines, in graphic design, can be used for a wide range of purposes: stressing a word or phrase, connecting content, creating patterns and more.

Color:

Color is used to generate emotions, define importance, create visual interest and unify branding. See our post on color for more detail.

Texture:

Texture relates to the surface of an object. Using texture in graphic design adds depth and visual interest. This can be applied graphically in the form of pattern or through the choice of printable surface.

Size:

In graphic design, size is used to convey importance, attract attention and create contrast.

Shape:

  The three basic shape types are Geometric (Circles, Squares, Triangles etc.), Natural (leaves, trees, people etc.) and abstract (icons,  graphic representations). Use carefully to create a visually pleasing design and eye-catching design.

Space:

    A vital part of any good graphic design, Space is the area around the elements in a design. It can be used to separate or group information. Use it effectively to give the eye a rest, define importance and lead the eye to where you want it to travel.

Value:

Value is how light or dark an area looks in a design. It is everything from the darkest of blacks through to the brightest of whites. Used correctly it will create depth, contrast and emphasis.

5. Must focus on how a design communicates a message to its audience

6. Need to know how each element of a design translates to print

7. Have one shot to get a design right once it’s printed
